Slogan recently worked with Beach Backpackers Hostel, Rio de Janeiro on a project involving a range of outcomes.
The first step was to establish a visual identity for the hostel with the development and design of a logo. The hostel is located close to Botafogo Beach in Rio de Janeiro so the owner wanted this reflected in the design.

Next, a website was designed which followed the look and feel of the logo. The website was built using WordPress, SEO was carried out including listings on Google Places and the implementation of Google Analytics and a weblog to increase traffic. The hostel owner reported a 30% increase in booking enquiries within two weeks of the site being indexed on Google and traffic has steadily increased.

Following this, printed collateral was required in the form of an advertisement. This is to be included on a tourist map produced by another local business.

The hostel also required a business card to be given to guests and for distribution to flier racks in other hostels beyond of Rio. Interestingly, the most common format in Brazil is 90mm x 50mm which is a longer, slimmer version than what Irish businesses tend to use.

Beach Backpackers Hostel provides tours and activities to guests, notices about available excursions were hung on the walls. However these were simple black and white pages produced in MS Word and lacking any design consistency in terms of layout, imagery or typography. Over twenty new notices were developed in line with the rest of the hostels new image. These posters feature images (and grammatically correct English!) and have already led to an increase in tour bookings.
